Day services provide adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities a safe, supportive environment where they can learn new skills, socialize with peers, and engage in new activities. Programs engage clients in activities that promote self-determination, increase independence, bring enjoyment, and enhance the person’s ability to interact with and contribute to their community.
Day Services are made up of Day Habilitation for group supports and Community Access for individuals.
Day Habilitation services are held on-site in the agency’s Adult Services building in Española (transportation provided) while also offering the opportunity for Day Habilitation clients to build natural supports and socialize in the community. Community Access also provides adult clients the opportunity to participate in physical activities that include swimming at the Larry Walkup Aquatic Center in Los Alamos as well as other local pools near the agency’s Rio Arriba County offices. Clients also love to visit the Española Animal Shelter and to participate in ceramics, arts, and crafts classes in their hometown. Additional outings take adults to Santa Fe, Albuquerque, and Taos with visits to the YMCA, galleries, museums, and an occasional Isotopes baseball games.
