Community-Based Child Abuse Prevention (CBCAP) navigators provide intensive and comprehensive support services for families with children ages zero to five in order to improve social and emotional well-being and resilience. Serving residents in Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Rio Arriba, and Taos Counties

Navigators are skilled at engaging parents and communities in order to form partnerships needed to ensure the safety and well-being of all children and families. Our CBCAP Services focus on preventing child abuse and neglect and strengthening and preserving families.

When families come to us for CBCAP services, a navigator will first meet with them to understand their needs and develop a family service plan. The family’s safety, stability, and other high-risk factors are always prioritized in this program and the family service plan is updated regularly as the family makes progress toward meeting their goals. We often work in multidisciplinary teams and partner with other programs and organizations to best meet the needs of the family.

Our CBCAP services include:

  • Home visits

  • Crisis Intervention

  • Connection to community resources

  • Evidence-based Parenting Classes

  • Transportation Assistance

  • Advocacy for social services

    • Basic needs; Food and housing

  • A caring commitment to family success

Our family navigators partner with families to create a support plan specific to their circumstances, values, and culture. Navigators can meet with families in their homes, our offices, or at a community meeting place, and meeting times can be flexible to accommodate families’ schedules.
