Santuario del Corazón
Bilingual/bicultural therapists support immigrant children and families in Northern New Mexico via trauma-informed mental health services and connections to resources such as transportation, housing, translation/interpretation, food assistance, legal assistance, and childcare.
BACKGROUND
In January 2019, Las Cumbres formed the Santuario del Corazón Program to meet the critical human rights and social/emotional needs of migrant children who have experienced traumatic separation from a caregiver due to arriving unaccompanied in the United States, family separation at the border, and/or deportation.
Las Cumbres was among 13 organizations awarded a federal grant by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to provide bilingual and bi-cultural treatment to immigrant children.
