A lifetime resident of La Puebla, Adela has been raised with the cultural pride ingrained in most Northern New Mexico residents. Hard work and devotion to her community shine bright for her. When Adela was old enough to work, she insisted on community employment. With the help of the Community Integrated Employment program at Las Cumbres, Adela developed an employment profile to assist in best matching her interests with employers.
After teaming up with a job coach, job skills training, and assistance building her resume, Adela, who also answers to Adelita, was matched with the local Wal-Mart. Over the past 15 years, Adela has acquired many skills in the retail industry including customer service, and experience in apparel, shoes, and jewelry sales. Las Cumbres considers Adela part of our extended family as she has spent 24 years socializing with staff and other adult clients at the Adult Services Coronado building in Española as well as in the community where she lives.
