Santa Fe, New Mexico, February 14, 2020 – Las Cumbres Community Services’ Santuario del Corazón (SDC) program has welcomed a partnership with the Mexican Consulate to expand trauma-informed care.
“We are excited to work with the Mexican Consulate to build relations and assist the Mexican Community to receive more support services,” said Jose Gonzalez, SDC Program Manager. “We will be working together to do community outreach, collaborate on events, and provide opportunities for our clients to contribute to the communities in which they live.”
The Santuario del Corazón Program works to empower migrants in the United States who have endured injustices, lost sense of security, and discrimination. The work of SDC takes the team to many parts of Northern New Mexico as well as along the US/Mexico Border.
Santuario del Corazón’s team employs bicultural and bilingual Clinicians and Family Navigators with vast work experiences and expertise in Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health, Clinical Counseling, and Art Therapy. The partnership with the Mexican Consulate will help reach more people in need and connect others with their consulate to assist them with the services they provide.
“If Santuario del Corazón was not working with families, migrants would be unable to effectively follow US guidelines for asylum or contribute to their communities.” Gonzalez continues. “More importantly, many families are suffering from PTSD and need treatment as any resident would need to keep families and the community safe.”
